The Star Entertainment Group has officially appointed Bruce Mathieson Jr as a Non-Executive Director, following the completion of all required regulatory and ministerial approvals.
Initially proposed in August 2025, Mathieson Jr’s appointment is now effective immediately, marking another step in The Star’s ongoing governance reform program under regulatory supervision in New South Wales and Queensland.
Meanwhile, Michael Issenberg, who has served as an independent non-executive director since 2022, will step down from the board after the company’s Annual General Meeting later this year.

The move comes after a phase of financial restructuring and ongoing regulatory oversight affecting The Star’s casino businesses.
The company recently disclosed a 29.2% year-on-year drop in annual revenue to AU$1.19 billion (£614 million), though it managed to reduce losses through asset divestments and a strategic partnership with Bally’s Corporation.
These latest board adjustments are part of The Star’s broader initiative to rebuild governance integrity and stabilize operations following multiple regulatory inquiries and licence reviews in New South Wales and Queensland.
